Remember

Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. ~ Exodus 20:8

The fourth commandment is the one commandment that God specifically tells us to REMEMBER. The Sabbath is a special gift of personal time from God to us. It is a day of delight. Sabbath is a time for rest and reflection. It is a special time set aside for family and peace. There is much to be gained from honoring the Sabbath.

Anticipate and look forward to the weekly Sabbath rest. Plan your time with God and family. Make it special. Use special dishes for dinner, or make a special meal. Study and pray together. Enjoy time more slowed with focus on God and eachother. Open Sabbath as a most precious gift. Share it. Bask in it.

Peace to you, and Happy Sabbath!

Amen! It is a delight if we allow it to be.

The Sabbath is not a yoke of bondage. It’s a day of joy, rest, eating, and enjoying Scriptures, fellowship, etc. The Sabbath was never intended to be a restraining time of punishment. What would your reaction be if your boss came to you and said, “I want you to take tomorrow off to rest. Enjoy yourself, eat, rest, read, just don’t even think about work.” Would you feel burdened?

What a wonderful point! Everything really is a matter of perspective, isn't it?
